telnet is a tool to access a text driven command line interface on a remote server and it is also still used in a
professional environment to manage Unix like server, network devices ( such as a router ) or telnet driven bbs's .
Telnet also allows you to acces a mail server and edit emails direct in it.
Because of security issues with Telnet, its use for this purpose has waned in favor of SSH
